Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist

Dr. Tiiu Toijala studied veterinary medicine at the University of Helsinki, and started veterinary work in 2002. She completed her thesis on dog rehabilitation after orthopedic surgery in 2004. Dr. Toijala enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, and has special interest in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of canine stress-related injuries. Dr. Toijala is a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT) through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute, and is currently a Practice Path Resident through the American College of Veterinary Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine under the mentorship of Drs. Sherman and Debra Canapp at Veterinary Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Group. In her spare time, Dr. Toijala enjoys sports, travelling, and competing in agility with her Border Collies.

Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist 

Dr. Malcolm Ware graduated from the University of Melbourne in Australia in 1983. Over the next few years, he worked in a number of mixed animal practices, before opening his own practice toward the end of 1987. This practice has now grown to be a twelve-veterinarian, multi-discipline practice with two partners - Dr. Malcolm Ware and Dr. Lisa Weldon. 

Over the years, Dr. Ware has studied extensively abroad, mainly in the USA, to develop his skills in orthopedic surgery, arthroscopy, stem cell therapy, rehabilitation therapy, and sports medicine. Dr. Ware is regarded as one of the leading practitioners of rehabilitation therapy and regenerative medicine in Australia. 

2016 saw Dr. Ware and the clinic become a VOSM Academy Certified Facility, and in 2017 COSMA (Canine Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Australia) was opened as an arm of The Vet Practice dedicated to this field.

The rehabilitation arm of The Vet Practice also services horses with the development of ‘TVP Equine’ run by Dr. Sabine Ware, Dr. Malcom Ware’s daughter, who is a Certified Equine Rehabilitation Practitioner, (CERP). 

When not working in the clinic, Dr. Ware sails competitively, and has competed in numerous State Titles, Australian Titles , and a few World Titles in the Etchell Class of yachts.

Dr. Alycia Lamb graduated with dual veterinary degrees from Washington State University and Oregon State University in 2000.  In 2005, she completed her CCRT (Canine Certified Rehabilitation Therapist) from The Canine Rehabilitation Institute.  In the same year, Dr. Lamb opened Sunset Hill Veterinary & Rehabilitation Center.  Dr. Lamb was the first veterinary rehabilitation specialist to practice in Seattle.

Since 2015, Dr. Lamb has begun to focus primarily on rehabilitation, allowing her three veterinary colleagues to run the general practice. Under the tutelage of Drs. Sherman and Deb Canapp, Dr. Lamb is now offering advanced and minimally invasive diagnostic procedures like: musculoskeletal ultrasound and needle arthroscopy.  In addition, Dr. Lamb is a leader in veterinary regenerative medicine in the Seattle area, with the capability to obtain and process bone-marrow-derived Stem Cells and Platelet Rich Plasma for same day injection into tendons, ligaments and/or joints.  This treatment is used to heal partial cruciate ligament tears (non-surgical), treat tendinopathies, and improve arthritic joints.  

Dr. Lamb works with a variety of patients from young canine athletes to seniors with arthritis.  Her goal is to accurately diagnose a patient, be minimally invasive, and choose the best treatment plan for that patient.  In her spare time she enjoys being a regular on KIRO 7’s radio show: It’s Raining Cats and Dogs, reading, gardening and spending time with her husband, 2 children, 1 Labrador, 1 Chihuahua, and 1 amazing cat.

Dr. Rebecca Wolf grew up in Denver, CO.  She did her undergrad at Bryn Mawr College with a double major in Chemistry and German.

Dr. Wolf graduated in 2006 from the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a rotating internship at Garden State Veterinary Specialists in New Jersey, followed by a surgical internship at Gulf Coast Veterinary Surgery in Houston, Texas. Dr. Wolf returned to Garden State Veterinary Specialists for her surgical residency, which she completed in 2011, and was practicing at a Specialty hospital in Chicago, IL until she joined Metropolitan Veterinary Associates in October 2015.

She is a small animal diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, and a certified practitioner of the Veterinary Orthopedic Sports Medicine (VOSM) Academy.

Her professional interests include minimally-invasive arthroscopic management of joint disease, and a wide array or orthopedic and soft tissue surgery as well as select neuro surgeries.

Dr. John DeBiasio, a native of Bergen County, New Jersey, fell in love with the Philadelphia area after attending the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated summa cum laude with distinction in Biology, earning his Bachelor of Arts in Molecular and Cell Biology in 1999. He continued his education at Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine, where he was awarded his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2003. After graduating, he completed a rigorous one-year rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus, New Jersey. Following his internship, he accepted a faculty position at Texas A&M University, College of Veterinary Medicine, teaching fourth year veterinary students on the Community Practice Service. He then went on to enter a three-year, Small Animal Internal Medicine Residency program at Texas A&M. Upon completion in 2008, he obtained his board certification from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

Dr. DeBiasio has been with Metropolitan Veterinary Associates since 2008 and is currently the Hospital Medical Director.  His clinical interests within the broad discipline of internal medicine include gastroenterology (with a particular focus on endoscopy), hepatology, hematology, respiratory disease, endocrinology and infectious disease.  He also has an interest in musculoskeletal ultrasound and regenerative sports medicine and performs both stem cell and platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy.

Dr. DeBiasio performs numerous specialized procedures which include, but are not limited to, laparoscopic surgery, gastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy, rhinoscopy, bronchoscopy, urethrocystoscopy, radiographic contrast studies, feeding tube placement (PEG, esophagostomy, jejunostomy), bronchoalveolar lavage, tracheal stenting, urethral synthetic collagen bulking (for urinary incontinence), and bone marrow aspirates and biopsies.

In his free time, Dr. DeBiasio enjoys running, caring for his menagerie (two dogs, two cats, snakes, geckos, frogs, and chickens), and most of all spending time with his wife, and two daughters.
